What is a Forced Reset Trigger (FRT)?
A Forced Reset Trigger (FRT) is a type of semi-automatic trigger that rapidly resets after each shot, “forcing” the trigger back into a forward position. This design allows the shooter to fire more quickly than with a traditional semi-auto trigger, while still technically requiring a trigger pull for each round fired.
To the untrained eye, an FRT may seem similar to a fully automatic system—but it is not the same thing. The firearm still requires a trigger press for each shot. However, the faster cycle of reset means the rate of fire can be significantly higher than most shooters are accustomed to controlling.
Why FRTs Can Be Dangerous
Like any piece of equipment, an FRT is not inherently unsafe—but it does demand a higher level of skill and discipline. Some of the risks include:

Qualification Required: All shooters must pass the Fletcher Arms FRT Qualification Course before using an FRT on our range.

Safety Rules Apply: Your firearm must be in safe working order, and you must maintain trigger discipline, muzzle control, and ensure all rounds impact your target.

Inspections: RSOs may inspect any FRT-equipped firearm before use.

Ammunition Restrictions: Only standard, commercially available ammo is permitted unless pre-approved.

Rate of Fire Control: Shooters must demonstrate the ability to safely control their rate of fire.

RSO Supervision: An RSO may require direct oversight if safety concerns arise.

Zero Tolerance: Shooting walls, ceilings, floors, or anything other than your target will not be tolerated.

Revocation of Privileges: Unsafe handling = immediate suspension of FRT privileges, and possibly removal from the range.
